Chairman’s Message
January 6, 2010

Dear Fellow Officials,

We hope you all had a very Happy Holiday Season and were able to share these special days in the company of family and friends.  It is now that time of the year when our thoughts should be centered on getting ready for the 2010 Track and Field and Cross Country Seasons.  To help you prepare yourselves for the grueling challenge of a 6 month Track and Field season we have put together two clinics for you and we strongly recommend that you attend one or both of them.  Information on the clinics can be found on your web site and has also been sent to you individually via your email address of record by your Secretary David Palmquist.

Both your Association Officers and the clinic Instructors have worked very hard in preparing for these sessions and I urge you all to attend them.  The athletic departments of both ASU and U of A have been very gracious to lend us the use of their facilities for these clinics, and ASU has planned a Tailgate Party and Basketball Tickets for after the session there on January 30. We need to know in advance if you intend on attending either of these clinics so your clinic team can prepare an adequate amount of handout material.  You can advise us of your attendance one way or the other by sending an email to David for ASU and Bob for UA.

For you new Association Level Officials who have practicum’s to complete before you can be considered to step up to National Level, these clinics should be pretty much a primary consideration for you to attend. I will be at both of the Clinic sites and I look forward to meeting with each of you.

I also want to urge you to send in your $10.00 annual assessment fee if you have not already done so.  Those funds are partially earmarked to off set the costs of these clinics and it is in the Associations best interest that you take this non-mandatory obligation to heart.

Best wishes for a rewarding Track and Field\Cross Country season to all of you.
